Opacified Crystalline Lens (Cataract)
The crystalline lens becomes opaque, is surgically removed and replaced by an artificial lens. The artificial lens is called Intra-OcularLens, abbreviated „IOL“.
High-grade IOLs are expected to assume the optical function of the crystalline lens to the maximum extent possible, to correct visual defects and to meet individual visual needs of the patients.
These high standards are met with the function-orientated IOL concept, existing of Basis IOL, Special IOL, AddOn® IOL, and the individual features. Each IOL has distinct features. The surgeon defines the best-suited IOL in accordance with the particular requirements.
An individual feature may be added to achieve a patient-specific adaptation. This ensures best possible optical functions for the patients.
